Open House: TNT Unveils Its Program Room Makeover [1]

Everyone is invited to an open house on Thursday, Oct. 3, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 706 Pine Ave. to celebrate the Teens Need Training after-school program room makeover.

Funds for the makeover were provided by a national Make a Difference Day grant sponsored by USA Weekend, Gannett, Newman’s Own and Points of Light. Shaquawana Wester’s 2012 Make a Difference Day coat drive project was recognized by these organizations on April 13 in Washington, D.C., and was one of 10 national winners. Thanks to the grant, the TNT meeting site on Pine Avenue is now a true “teen hangout.”

Cummins Filtration, the Cookeville Police Department and the Police Athletic League all worked together to purchase a StarBoard for the teens to use. And the Fraternal Order of Police has purchased two computers for TNT.
