In addition, there are 34,000 adults in the Upper Cumberland who have some college, but did not finish a degree. There are not enough qualified candidates to fill many of the workforce needs of area business and industry today.

Are you unemployed or “under”-employed because of a lack of education or training? Do you want to make a higher income? If you are an adult between the ages of 25 and 64, you are eligible for TN Reconnect. This program can help you take the next step toward earning a certificate or degree to lead to gainful employment, a brighter future and provide for your family. The Upper Cumberland Reconnect Community (which includes Putnam, Jackson and Clay counties) can help you with advice, guidance and assistance to find the education program that is right for you with an emphasis on jobs available in our area. Locally, you can attend a Tennessee College of Applied Technology and earn a certificate or diploma in a specialized skill, and the tuition is FREE for most adults. They will walk you through enrollment, career pathways and financial aid. You will learn WHERE to go, WHO to see and WHAT to do next.
