November 2014 Announcements

Melinda's Memos. November is recertification time in Baxter and Celina.  You should receive a letter notifying you of your appointment date and time. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 931.526.9793 ext 220.

Sammie Says. Cookeville Veterans Office will have a parade on Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. from Hobby Lobby to the Veterans Building and an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All veterans are invited to walk in the parade or come to the open house.

Kathy's Corner. If you receive Social Security or SSI, you should receive proof of your income in the mail soon. Keep these papers safe; you will need them in 2015 for proof of income for rent, DHS benefits, energy assistance, etc.

Toys for Tots. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . . as of Nov. 1. Only 55 days are left until Christmas. Don’t forget about

Toys for Tots sign-ups on the following dates:

  • Thursday, Nov. 13, 12 to 5 p.m.
  • Friday, Nov. 14, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 15, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Toys for Tots is for Putnam County residents only. The legal guardian must be present (photo ID required) to sign up the child receiving toys. Children must be ages 17 or younger. Bring the Social Security card OR birth certificate for each child and proof of residency (i.e., utility bill or lease agreement).

  • Algood - Dec. 4
  • Monterey - Dec. 6
  • Gainesboro - Dec. 6

As of publishing time for this newsletter, dates have not been announced for parades in Celina or Baxter.

Timely Tidbits. Don’t forget that Daylight Saving Time ends Nov. 2. Clocks “fall back” one hour. Streets will be dark when some children get home from school, so please drive slowly to watch for buses and children.
