Melinda's Memos. Annual recertification interviews for all of Monterey will be held in September. You should receive a letter notifying you of your appointment date and time. If you have any questions, contact me at 931.526.9793 ext 220.

Sammie's Section. All are invited to the Cedar Hills Baptist block party on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Baxter community room. Don’t forget to mark your calendars to join us for fun, games, music and food.

Kathy's Corner. “Don’t Quit, Just Come” Tobacco Cessation classes will be held Tuesdays, September 9 and 23, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the HRS main office. Attendance counts as two hours of community service. Classes are free and open to the public.

Quawana’s Coats. The third annual Quawana’s Coats will be held on Make A Difference Day, Saturday, Oct. 25. Coats and refreshments will be distributed to anyone in need. 

Donations are needed. Items can be dropped off at our main office. Just one coat can “Make A Difference.” Watch our Facebook pages and website for the names of other drop-off locations. Contact Shaquawana at 931.526.9793 ext. 213 or swester@highlandsrs.com

  • Used/new coats and jackets, all sizes
  • Hygiene products
  • Nonperishable food items
  • Clothing hangers
  • Toys
  • Food (hot dogs, buns, snacks, chips, etc.) and drinks
  • Volunteers
  • Collection sites
  • Business/group internal drive hosts
  • Monetary donations

Drug Take Back. Dispose of drugs safely on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Cookeville’s Walgreens and CVS Stores.
