Resource Center: Tobacco, Turnout and Turkey Day

Don’t Quit, Just Come. A new year is right around the corner. Now is a great time to plan your New Year’s resolution to stop smoking. Everyone is invited to our Tobacco Cessation classes. Our November 11 class is cancelled due to Veterans Day, so make plans to attend Tuesday, Nov. 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the HRS main office, 235 W. Jackson St. Attendance counts as two hours of community service. Please call Kathy at 931.526.9793 ext. 212 with any questions.

Go Vote! In the recent Aug. 7 Putnam County election, the turnout rate was only 36 percent. We can do better. Please remember to go vote on Tuesday, Nov. 4, in the local and state elections. Polls are open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. And remember to honor our veterans and their families on Veterans Day, Nov. 11. Plus, be thankful for all you are blessed with on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 27. The HRS main office will be closed both of these days.

Thanksgiving Day Meal. The Cookeville Rescue Mission will serve hot lunches on Thanksgiving Day at 1331 S. Jefferson Ave., Cookeville. They also plan to deliver lunches from 12 to 2 p.m. to Cookeville residents who receive Meals on Wheels. If you do not want a meal or if you have questions about meals from the Mission, please call 931.520.7003 or 931.528.5819.
